Confession without confessing
Pope Francis displays another incident of rebeliousness to the faithful over the Sacrament of Reconciliation. He has stated in homily of Feb 2016 that one can obtain absolution without disclosing the sin to a priest!!!
From Pope Francis homily of Feb 10, 2016, Ash Wednesday: "If someone comes to you and feels something must be removed from him, but perhaps he is unable to say it, but you understand … it’s all right, he says it this way, with the gesture of coming."1 2
The Catechism clearly states that a penitent must disclose his sin to the priest in order to obtain absolution.
Confession has its requirements in order to be valid. They include contrition [remorse, repentance], confession [disclosure] & satisfaction [amendment, penitance]. Without contrition, disclosure & satisfaction, sins are not remitted.
What is Pope Francis intent here? Is it to ensure that those who choose to do a confession a la Francis are actually not absolved of their sin but rather remain in a state of mortal sin thereby meriting hell?
While Francis may appear merciful, the end result will be weaker Catholics will stop believing in the need to go to confession and triviliaze the Sacrament.
From the Catholic Catechism:
1424: It is called the sacrament of confession, since the disclosure or confession of sins to a priest is an essential element of this sacrament.3
Book of Truth prophecy:
"Confessions will stop in the present format. People will be told to ask for redemption in their own way, and as such, many will not then bother to ask for My Forgiveness."4
